Board Care Instructions
Keep your Red Tail Board Looking & Performing Its Best
Our cutting boards are handcrafted to last — but like any premium tool, proper care is essential. Follow these guidelines to maintain the beauty and durability of your board for years to come.
Cleaning
- Wipe down your board with a damp cloth after each use.
- For deeper cleaning, hand-wash with mild soap and warm water.
- Never soak your board or put it in the dishwasher — water damage and warping will occur.
Oiling
- To keep your board hydrated and prevent cracking, apply food-safe mineral oil regularly.
- Oil when the board looks dry or feels rough (usually every 2–4 weeks, depending on use).
- Apply a generous coat of oil, let it soak in overnight, and wipe off excess with a clean cloth.
Optional Wax Finish
- For added protection, you can apply a board wax or conditioner after oiling.
- This helps repel moisture and adds a soft sheen.
Long-Term Maintenance
- Minor knife marks and surface wear can be sanded with 220–320 grit sandpaper.
- After sanding, always clean and reapply oil before use.
Do Not
- Use harsh chemicals or bleach
- Submerge in water or run through the dishwasher
- Store it while wet — always let it dry upright or on its side
